Project Overview

Efficiently led the artistic direction of a high fashion online publication that has iPad and iPhone capabilities. Successful launch of Canada’s first publication available exclusively online, with launch parties highlighted during the Toronto International Film Festival; rave critical reviews from a variety of Canadian press followed. An intimate knowledge of styling and the fashion industry combined with effective administrative and leadership skills made the launch of this magazine possible. Efficiently led the artistic direction of a high fashion photo shoots for an online publication that has iPad and iPhone capabilities.

Selected Responsibilities

- Provided creative vision for the entire design and aesthetic of the magazine, website, iPhone and iPad application.

- Art Director of editorial photo shoots.

- Presenting each new issue’s theme and direction to staff and advertisers alike.

- Expand online presence by creating and updating of social media and online blogging.

- Responsible for generating all press releases, Media Kits and PR events associated with the publication.

- Responsible for story development and content generation; assign content (articles, features, blog posts) to contributors as necessary.

- Build partnerships with contributing artists, writers, photographers and designers.

- Work closely with regular contributors to ensure content is relevant.

- Keep the Editor-In-Chief, Managing Editor and Application Engineer updated on the status of all creative deliverables.

- Copy writing for heads, decks and captions as necessary.

- Writing stories related to culture, lifestyle and local/worldwide event coverage.

- Edit and paginate all sections daily; working on a tight print deadline.

- Have final decision-making power over a new issue before going to press. Acute attention to detail needed.

- Researching market trends for upcoming seasons.

- Quality Control liaison with major advertisers ensuring integrity of the creative product.

- Responsible for the conception and creation of all magazine events (TIFF Launch Parties).

- Responsible for attending all industry events associated with the magazines’ advertisers.

Lead writer on a variety of topics, consistently publishing feature length articles.

Lush Magazine is a high-end international fashion magazine with a distribution of over 300,000. Since it’s launch it has been a major force in Canadian and European fashion.

Selected Responsibilities

- Lead writer of the Lush Calendar, a feature length column dedicated to worldwide events, exhibits and parties.

- Preview and review exhibits, concerts, special events and restaurants of local and national significance.

- Cover the Toronto social scene at various events.

- Interview local and national artists’ for stories and profiles.

- Writing feature articles on a variety of topics including, beauty, culture, fashion and lifestyle.

- Lead writer/project manager of a feature length column dedicated to the beauty industry.

- Write and produce of-the-moment lifestyle-related content.

- Identify content providers.

- Regularly pitch and present content/ideas to Managing Editors and the Editor-In-Chief.

- Fact checking, writing credits, writing decks, writing captions.

- Planning photo shoots to accompany content.
